ChopShop Co-Producing Action Sports Film Series

ChopShop Partners With Newport Beach Film Festival for Action Sports Film Series

February 8, 2010 .... Irvine, Calif. ...ChopShop, the Irvine, CA based action sports and lifestyle production company, will join the Newport Beach Film Festival again this year as co-producers of the Action Sports Film Series. For the second consecutive year the Action Sports Film Series will be sponsored by FUEL TV and the Action Sports Group (ASG) - Surfing Magazine - and will take place during the week of the Newport Beach Film Festival (April 22-29, 2010) in Newport Beach, California.

The Action Sport Series will kick off on Friday, April 23 with a premiere screening and continue through the week featuring filmmaker receptions, Q&A sessions, panels and a juried awards presentation. Films will screen at the historic Regency Lido Theater and at Edwards Island Cinema, located in Fashion Island in Newport Beach.

The Action Sports Series takes audiences on outdoor adventures and cultural journeys around the world spotlighting independent filmmakers, athletes, visionaries, artists and designers who have shaped the Action Sports culture and captured its history with their innovation and creativity. The film competition is open to U.S. and international filmmakers who may enter feature-length narrative, documentary, short, animated and student films.

The Newport Beach Film Festival is proud to continue its tradition of presenting the ultimate in cutting edge action sports cinema from around the globe. Past NBFF films include Street Dreams, Waveriders, Echo Beach, Step into Liquid, Riding Giants, Dogtown and Z-Boys, Dust to Glory, Let It Ride, Sliding Liberia, Under the SunIslands in the Stream, Stoked, Zen & Zero, Klunkerz, Chasing the Horizon, Adrenaline Hunters, Monster Thursday and Wassup Rockers.

Seeking to raise awareness of environmental and social issues through cinema, the Festival welcomes the Surfrider Foundation as the designated community outreach partner fort the Action Sports Film Series. The Surfrider Foundation is a non-profit environmental organization dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world's oceans, waves and beaches for all people, through conservation, activism, research and education.
