Mission
Pushing Skateboarding Forward…
The International Association of Skateboard Companies’ (IASC) mission is to represent the global skateboarding community as a united force by listening, understanding and addressing the needs of skateboarders and the skateboarding industry.
IASC, a non-profit organization formed in 1995, aims to increase global participation in skateboarding, reach out to skateboarding youth through educational programs and become the resource on the skateboarding industry.
What people are saying:
“IASC manages to create consensus among the diverse personalities in the skateboard industry. That’s a feat in itself, not to mention the inherent strength of an association with such successful and creative companies behind it.”
Miki Vuckovich
Executive Director, Tony Hawk Foundation
“For years I have wanted to bring our industry together. We should compete in the marketplace, but we have a need for a forum where we can all discuss and execute mutually beneficial ideas to keep our industry healthy and growing. IASC fills this need and I have already seen many positive effects from the IASC organization.”
Bob Denike
President, NHS
“Skateboarding is a very diverse activity/lifestyle/sport and IASC provides a focal point for this diversity. Every company has their own marketing agendas but IASC is a voice above all that. It is a focus for the ‘bigger issues’ that often get left behind in day-to-day operations. This is why IASC is the organization which can push skateboarding forward.”
Ian Deacon
President, Flip Skateboards
“IASC brings our very diverse and creative industry together to discuss and execute ideas beneficial to all. One voice together pushing skateboarding in a positive direction.”
Louise Balma
Events Consultant, TransWorld Media
“The essence of skateboarding has always been the evolution of our culture, not a sport, not a lifestyle, just our existence. It is who we are and how we define ourselves in spite of the view of others in the world toward us. Always forward in perspective, creativity and energy. One view, many views. One voice, many voices. One culture, all cultures. What athletically base activity can you be a part of and be rich or poor, short or tall, skinny or big, perfectly normal or handicapped and be from any continent on this planet and succeed? Skateboarding is a true melting pot. Life slugs on, while skateboarding is pushing ever forward.”
Damian Hebert
President, South Shore Distribution
“We can have our differences amongst each other but in order to deal effectively with outside pressures and the issues that befall skateboarding, we need to be united. It’s the only way we’ll be able to retain skateboarding’s unique and original spirit.”
